Perhaps the main reason why we should study Biblical Prophecy is that there wouldn’t be much of the Bible left if we tried to ignore its predictive passages… Over 1/4 of the Bible focuses on Prophecy …and so if the Holy Spirit directed the writers to include this much Prophetic matter throughout the entire Bible, then we MUST conclude that God wanted to convey some very important messages to everyone; Jew, Gentile, Believer, and even Unbeliever. The words translated "Prophet" or "Prophecy" occur more than 400 times throughout the Bible Scriptures. They convey two different meanings, depending on the context. In one, the word focuses on foretelling a "predictive future element" of the message and the other meaning is; "exhortation" by the Prophet of a "future" message of God to the people. The ordinary Hebrew word for "PROPHET" is; "Nabi," derived from a verb signifying; "to bubble forth like a fountain" - hence meaning; "one who announces or pours forth the declaration of God."

In the original Hebrew word for "PROPHECY" portrays the image of an overflowing FOUNTAIN …as in Hebrew: m’kohr - pronounced "Makore" and means; "bubbling forth as the Prophets of God speak wisdom" …NOT from themselves BUT rather as the Holy Spirit of God "…gave them utterance." – Acts 2:4. Yeshua (Jesus) is the "fountain of life - He was and is the bearer of Eternal nourishment and Eternal life that flows, like a river through anyone who drinks from His well. When our Lord Yeshua visited Jerusalem in the Fall (autumn) to celebrate the Feast of Sukkot (Booths) / Tabernacles, He called out an open invitation to the massive crowds who had gathered for the Feast; "Now on the last day, the great day of the feast (Feast of Tabernacles’ - 8^th Day), Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’" - John 7:37-38. Of all the Biblical metaphors; "a fountain" is perhaps most satisfying! We are nourished and refreshed from the fountain of God. We must NOT let our waters become polluted and nor let our waters dry up! As we drink deep from the; "Fountain of Life" that YHWH has provided, we will live abundantly in the Presence of God!

A polluted fountain – dried up… However, we are living in the time of the END where many have today forsaken the God of Israel - the God of the Bible …and so they have "broken cisterns that are dried up" (Jeremiah 2:13). And, sadly, because of unbelief many NO longer realize that Bible Prophecy is being fulfilled right before their eyes! Many have forsaken YHVH - Yahweh God to follow the gods of the world. The Lord God is a Fountain of Life to Israel and the whole world …BUT the world was NOT so accepting of God as a "generous and nourishing fountain!"

Proverbs 25:25-26; “Like cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a distant land. Like a trampled spring and a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.” Yahweh is the God of Life …BUT the Adversary (Satan) is “a god of Death.” YHWH God valued life and order …while Satan the Adversary valued death and chaos! And, we must NEVER let ourselves give way to wickedness or allow our “fountain of life” to become corrupt and polluted by the world! 

Is there hope for our world today? Will this Century end in the worst disaster in human history? Why is Israel today the main target of the Nations? What is God’s grand design for this tiny Nation and why has Israel been the focal point of God for the Salvation of the entire plan over the ages for the world? God was never caught unawares when they rejected their own Messiah and King …and  to bring this good news to a world totally enveloped in darkness. You see, God NEVER goes back on His Promises to Israel (See Romans 11). What a great blessing it was when God offered His Salvation to the Gentiles (who by the way, are NOT innocent as many rejects God). How much great blessing it will be when the Jews as a whole finally do recognize their Redeemer, the great Comforter of Israel – the ONE who always loved them and has NEVER forsaken them! They are the Lord’s Brethren. There are many Messianic Jews who believe in Yeshua as their Saviour and even Congregations in Israel have grown in number as more are coming to realize.

This is what God said in Zechariah 2:8: “For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.” Poke a Jewish person, and you have poked the Lord in the eye! Our commitment to God’s people will be severely tested in the Last Days. As we get closer to Yeshua (Jesus) return, we are now witnessing increasing onslaught of hatred and anti-Semitism. Consequently, the sincerity of our commitment to God’s chosen people, “the apple of His eye,” will be severely tested. Besides defending the Jewish people from anti-Semitism, we have increasing opportunities to help the needy among the Lord’s brethren. Many people stereotype the Jewish people as being rich BUT that’s not entirely true as there are large pockets of poverty, especially in Jerusalem …and across the land in the North as many are facing extreme hardships during this WAR. Many have lost loved ones who are providers and children now orphans as their parents killed in war! Our acts of kindness will serve to provoke Israel to jealousy (Romans 11:11). May it cause the Jewish people to desire the Salvation we have found in Messiah Yeshua. All that we do on behalf of the Jewish people will be remembered and rewarded by the Lord. Not even a cup of cold water will be forgotten!

The Prophecies in the Bible outline very clearly a series of events that WILL signal the FINAL conflict of History in the Last Days! These incredible events will lead to the culmination of God’s GREAT plan for Israel and the Coming Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) to establish His Kingdom on Earth in Jerusalem. Among the most prominent of Prophetic events was the notable rebirth of ISRAEL that had begun way back as early as the 1880’s and finally began taking shape in the 1990’s when NOBODY during that time could even imagine how God would bring the Jews back to their Promised Land. It was a dream yet to be fulfilled by many Jews and even Christians …BUT everything changed during WW11 (01 Sept 1939 – 02 Sept 1945) and after the Holocaust - Israel was declared a Nation in one day just as the Bible said it would happen on 14 May, 1948. “Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? Yet no sooner is Zion in labour than she gives birth to her children. Do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?" says the LORD.” - Isaiah 66:8.

Are we living in “the Last Days” and are there Prophetic “signs” indicating this? Yes! Let’s look again at what History recorded. World conditions as well as Bible Prophecy indicate that the Last Days had already begun in 1914 - the year of WWI and continued to WW2 and the Holocaust of 1945 and then the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 – “the Fig Tree Blossoming!” Some say that on the 27 June, 1967 was the year after the 6-Day War that the “Fig Tree Blossomed”  - because that is when Jerusalem was unified and under Israel’s control; “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” - Matthew 24:32–35. The Bible foretold many things that together would be “the sign” to identify the Last Days. (Luke 21:7) Consider some examples:

The War on a large scale is happening today in Israel and Nations of the Middle East! Yeshua Jesus foretold; “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.” – Matthew 24:7. In; Revelation 6:4  we are foretold of a symbolic horseman representing warfare that would; “take peace away from the earth.”

Many Nations that had persecuted Ancient Israel with devastating results for themselves as well as for Israel… Just as they are doing today since 1948 …BUT, God’s focus was always on His “chosen people.” Those Nations that had NO relationship with Israel, such as China and India etc., are NOT even mentioned in the Bible. But God did love them and Israel’s purpose was to carry God’s love throughout the whole world. Today Israel is the main focus of much of today’s news reports compared to other Nations with greater populations and land masses. If anything happens of major news in Africa unless like the ICJ genocide Court Case brought against Israel (for merely defending their country from Hamas Terrorists in Gaza) by the ANC Government of South Africa …all-the-while almost daily a genocide of farm murders occurs in South Africa and not much is even said by the Media and there is NO follow up to their story.

The Old Testament divides the human race into only two distinct categories; Jew and Gentiles …and Israel and the (Gentile) Nations…. The Jews comprise but a small portion of the world’s total population – yet God chose them: “The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because you were more in number than any people; for you were the fewest of all people.” – Deuteronomy 7:7. Israel’s purpose and position are still viable and God’s Promises for the Nation of Israel are yet intact awaiting fulfilment of Prophecy. God will never forsake Israel as He has a Covenant with them and always keeps His Promises.  Knowledge of God’s purpose for Israel aids our understanding for the times we are living in and helps us to understand as well as aids our interpretation of today’s mews events, our comprehension of the Bible and our understanding of the God of Israel – our Lord!

The Old Testament was NOT intended to be a History book or Science  book – yet it is the most accurate of both… It records bits and pieces of history of many nations which came in contact with Israel. For example; the fascinating information about the histories of Egypt, Assyria, Persia, and Babylon are tiny time-capsules from their vanished civilizations since they were enemies of Israel and thus enemies of God too! BUT Israel’s history is carefully recorded with special emphasis on her relationship with her Creator and Redeemer, the Lord God Jehovah. Israel’s entire story from her beginning with the patriarchs; Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – through the 1^st Century AD is emblazed across the pages of God’s Holy Word – the Bible. Israel’s victories, defeats, her joys, and her sorrows are all there. Great glory and shame echo back and forth throughout the 66 Books of the Bible almost 6,000 years.

A span of 400 years covers from the time when God was SILENT from Malacai to Matthew and during those years of silence NO Prophet’s voice was heard throughout the streets of Jerusalem… We must depend upon secular Historians such as Josephus to learn of Israel’s History during this “dark time.” However, still with accuracy he confirms the New Testament yet another short span of time when major events of Israel happened …with the birth of Yeshua (Jesus Christ) as recorded in the Gospels and Epistles that centre around the life of Christ and early Christians. But the recording stops after 70AD and from then on Israel, as a Political Nation has NO History …until 1948!

For almost 2,000 years the Jewish people made news only as individuals within their adopted countries… Now today, the Nation of Israel as whole is more on the news than ever before. The whole world – friend and foe alike, watches her every move! The Jews are the only people to have had the whole course of their History entirely pre-written from beginning to end by God. Such chapters as; Genesis 49; Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28 attest to this! Prophetic passages pertaining to the Nation of Israel are scattered throughout the whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

The Jews are called God’s National Bible… Their History and Prophecy are the vindication of the divine inspiration of the Bible. Frederick the Great of Prussia once asked his court chaplain; “How do you know that the Bible is the Word of God? Prove to me there is a God!” When the answer came immediately; “The Jews!” And, the Ruler agreed with him! The Jews are truly God’s miraculous people! Israel was chosen as a Nation which would produce the Messiah in His humanity. Out of the loins of Abraham would eventually come Yeshua (Jesus Christ) 0ur Lord (Matthew 1:1).

Why were there NO Gentile Prophets? Why could not King Nebuchadnezzar of Ancient Babylon have written a book of Daniel or the Assyrian Naaman of the Book of 2 Kings – after all these men played a major role in these books – they were there and they knew what happened?  Yet, Gentile Nations did NOT produce a single one of the “Prophets”-  holy men of old who spoke as they moved by the Holy Spirit? (2 Peter 1:21) Only believers in the God of Israel were entrusted to record the pages of Holy Scripture. Only in this present Age of Grace have some Gentile Nations accepted the God of the Jews – the God of the Bible. Even today, across the Gentile World it’s only a small  percentage of TRUE Believers! Everything we know today has been passed down by to us by Jewish Hands – Scribes who painstakingly wrote each “jot and tittle” of the Holy Bible. We Gentile believers truly owe the Jewish people and the Nation of Israel much gratitude!

God has protected Jews as a National people in a miraculous way and has delivered them from total annihilation countless times and in unique ways... The miracle of Israel’s survival is clearly due to the marvellous divine intervention of Almighty God. It could be explained in another way – God could have destroyed them over and over again because of His Righteous anger at Israel’s many iniquities …BUT God made promises to her fore-fathers that Israel would REMAIN despite all circumstances …and all those promises God WILL surely keep! We as believers need to rejoice because if God keeps His promises with Israel …He surely WILL keep it with us too. Christ will come back for His Bride – the Church just as He also Promised! In Psalm 46:6, the Psalmist gives us the answer. He writes, “The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted!” This statement confidently asserts that God ruled over the threatening armies that confronted His ancient people.

As we read in Psalm 46:6 even our own planet WILL pass away and melt then if Israel’s existence is linked to things which shall pass away how can they be used as a criterion, to measure Eternal things? How can this then be linked to Israel’s immortality (everlastingness)? In Eternal counsels planned long before God even created our world, it was determined that the earth’s destruction brought about by its wickedness, would NOT be left as a scar in the universe to forever remind God of man’s failure and sin. As Christ’s redeemed, we WILL put on NEW “glorified bodies” of immortality - pure and undefiled, so also will His cosmos. Out of utter devastation of the “Heavens and the Earth” WILL come a NEW Heaven and Earth in Jerusalem – never to be spoiled again …and Israel’s existence is also linked to that!

“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.” – Revelation 21:1-2. And, as true believers we have a great future ahead!

So now let’s look at the opening chapters of Revelation, one sentence appears seven times… “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22). In other words; “we ALL need to listen as Prophecy contains practical instruction for every Bible believer, every day and especially in these Last Days!” Did you know the Book of Revelation is the ONLY book in the Bible that promises a REWARD to its readers? This promise is found NOT just once but twice; (1) “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” - Revelation 1:3. (2) “Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book!” - Revelation 22:7.

The Bible describes the events, conditions and attitudes that would mark the conclusion of the (current) system of things,” or “the End of the world” (Matthew 24:3) …and the Bible calls this time period; “the Last Days” and the “time of the end,” or “End-times.” (2 Timothy 3:1; Daniel 8:19). When we study Prophecy, we discover the Holy Spirit as - “the Spirit of TRUTH” (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13; 1 John 4:6) led the Prophets of old to FULL understanding of God’s unfolding purpose in History. And, since the Holy Spirit initially inspired Bible writers, He will also awaken our spiritual understanding of these Prophetic Last Day truths! There are several reasons why we should Study Bible Prophecy; (1) important (2) unique (3) practical to know the time we are living in!

The Bible is the ONLY Book in existence that dared to detail thousands of Prophecies concerning the rise and fall of Empires …most of which have historically accurately and precisely been fulfilled already just as they were predicted! It’s impossible for any human NOT inspired by Almighty God to predict accurately a series of sequential events that can be historically verified. While Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is the subject of thousands of Old and New Testament Prophecies …He is also the “Supreme Prophet,” who declared God’s purpose in History Through the Scriptures the Lord reveals the place and role of Nations and allows us to judge the “times and seasons” of our lives and generation. Yeshua severally criticized the religious people of His day for ignoring the Old Testament Prophecies about neglecting the “signs” of the Coming Messiah! No other written word can reveal the destiny of our world or of our souls!

We are forewarned that in the Last Days there would be Famine, Earthquakes in diverse places, Pestilences (Diseases) of “fearful sights” AND from the heavens “great signs!” Yeshua (Jesus) warned in (Matthew 24:7; Luke 21:11) that “There will be food shortages.” And in Revelation 6:5-6 - we are also foretold of an additional symbolic horseman, whose ride would result in “famine” on a large scale! And, Matthew 24:12 speaks of “lawlessness!” Although crime has existed for Centuries, Yeshua (Jesus) foretold that in the Last Days, there would be an “increasing of lawlessness Truly we are witnessing this happening today! Not only are we warned in Revelation 11:18 that mankind would be “ruining the earth.” They would do so in many ways, not only through “violent” and “corrupt” actions but also by bringing harm to the environment. Today we clearly see how the wicked Globalists Elites and corrupt Governments of Nations with their so-called “Climate Change” policies are changing weather through “Cloud Seeding” and by destroying the earth to stop natural farming, etc!

So, deterioration is happening just as Prophesied in these Last Days… In 2 Timothy 3:1-4, the Bible 2,000 years ago foretold that people in general would be; “…unthankful, disloyal, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride.” These attitudes would reach such extremes that during End-times could rightly be described as CRITICAL times and hard to deal with! Also, the “breakdown of the family” (2 Timothy 3:2 ,3) the Bible foretold that many people would have “no natural affection” for their family and that children would be “disobedient to parents.” The love of the greater number will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12) The love for God would grow cold in most people likewise as we read in; 2 Timothy 3:4-5 that in the Last Days, such ones would be “lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God.”

There would also be an increased understanding of Bible Prophecies… The Book of Daniel foretold that in “the Time of the End,” many would gain “increased knowledge” of Bible TRUTH, including accurate understanding of these Prophecies.(Daniel 12:4). And, the good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth. (Matthew 24:14). However, there will also be widespread apathy and ridicule of the “Days of Noah” and people in general would ignore the overwhelming evidence of the approaching End. (Mathew 24:37-39) More than that, 2 Peter 3:3-4 foretold that some would ridicule the evidence of Christ’s Return for His Church …dismissing it completely! Yeshua (Jesus) said that the Last Days would be marked by the simultaneous fulfilment of ALL these Prophecies …NOT just a few or even most of them …BUT all!.(Matthew 24:33). So, we clearly see how important it is to study Bible Prophecy!

Although these events may sound terrifying to most today BUT the saints of God, we have NOTHING to fear because God has always been in control of History, and He is sovereign over the future as well… History is the unfolding of God’s Prophetic plan and program for advancing His Kingdom for Him to receive the greatest glory! God’s Word – the Bible, describes three key prophetic events that believers should anticipate with grateful anticipation and excitement. First, the Harpazo - Rapture will occur when Yeshua (Jesus Christ) comes back with the saints who have already died to receive those who have NOT yet died and take them to the place that He has prepared for them (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). Then, as true believers (saints) we will face the “Bema” judgment seat of Christ and be rewarded based on our faithfulness and receive our glorified bodies. After the Rapture, the 7-Year Tribulation period will begin on earth. Satan will be let loose to cause unrestrained evil on earth through the anti-Christ …but God will also pour out His wrath against those who follow Satan’s agenda (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12). Satan’s goal WILL be to destroy Israel and overthrow the program of God …but God will restore Israel to repentance to fulfil the Old Testament Prophecy (Ezekiel 38-39).

At Yeshua’ (Jesus Christ) Second Coming He WILL return to usher in His 1,000-year Millennial Reign designed to fulfil what God originally intended for mankind to be His representatives on earth advancing His Kingdom (Revelation 20:1-6). Unbelievers WILL be judged! And believers (saints) WILL finally experience their Eternal state in the New Heaven and the New Earth.

What should our response as true believers in Yeshua be to this knowledge of the future God has for us be? We should NOT be deceived or afraid as we know the TRUTH (Matthew 24:4-5 as God’s Kingdom WILL prevail and all of His enemies WILL be destroyed (1 Corinthians 15:24-26). We should build our lives on the foundation of Christ because NOTHING else WILL survive the “flames of God’s coming judgment” (1 Corinthians 3:10-15). We WILL live Eternally with God and that should bring us comfort  …in spite of whatever is going on in the world around us (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18). God bless you!

We most sincerely believe that God WILL bless you for your faithfulness and love for His land and chosen people. God’s Word is true! He IS watching to see how the Nations are treating His people. God will have mercy on Israel through Gentile believers acting as mediators towards them. This is one of the most amazing revelations ever given to the Church – an opportunity to do something that carries the highest priority in the heart of God. Yet, sadly, so few have seen the potential and the rewards of serving God in this manner - as agents of mercy to Israel and the Jewish people! Israel was and still is despised today and a despised Nation continually turning away from God …BUT nothing ever altered the purpose of God for that Nation. The "despised element" is always a noticeable element in the purpose of God. When the Saviour of the world came, He came of that "despised Nation" (and just like Israel) He Himself was "…despised and rejected by men." And there is that despised element; "…things that are despised God has chosen," - 1 Corinthians 1:28.
